Rachael Kelsey

IAFL European Chapter President 2020-to date. IAFL Secretary 2014- 2020. IAFL Counsel 2013-14. Only ‘Hall of Fame’ lawyer for family law in Scotland in Legal 500 (2021 Edition). Founding partner of largest niche family law practice in Scotland, SKO Family Law Specialists LLP. Band 1 “leading individual” in Chambers & Partners. Re-appointed by the Lord President to the Family Law Committee of the Scottish Civil Justice Council (2019). Past Chair of the Family Law Association, the organisation of family law solicitors in Scotland. Originally a general litigation practitioner Rachael has specialised in, and undertaken exclusively, family law since 1998. She has a significant case load involving international or intra-UK jurisdictional issues (areas of law on which she has lectured both nationally and internationally) – contentious and non-contentious, ‘forum-shopping’, advice. Deals with both financial and child cases with experience in Hague and non-Hague abduction/wrongful retention cases. Primary area of practice is high value financial cases (married, unmarried and same-sex individuals). Her practice is split between Edinburgh and London. Rachael is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Family law and as a Family Mediator and she is a founder member of FLAGS- Family Law Arbitration Group Scotland and now trains other arbitrators in Scotland and internationally as well as acting as an Arbitrator in Scots law matters. Rachael trained as Collaborative Lawyer in 1994.
