In 1989 he was appointed Judge and served as such in Valls, Arenys de Mar, Lleida, Sabadell and Barcelona (Family Judge in the latter). In 1997 he was elected Chief Judge of Barcelona and re-elected in 2001. He has been during three years associate teacher in the Spanish Judicial School. From 1989 until 2004 he was active as expert of the Council of Europe in programs relating to the judiciary for Easter European countries. From 2004 to 2009 he was Deputy European Data Protection Supervisor. From 2009 to 2014, he sat at the Court of Appeal of Barcelona (Family Division). From 2015 on, he is Consultant on International Family Law, matrimonial regimes and appeals before the Superior Court of Catalonia and the Spanish Supreme Court. He lectures and publishes on those matters. In 2019 he published Normas de derecho Internacional Privado aplicables en las crisis familiares, Ed. SEPÍN.
