Rita has a varied background in academics, banking, property and law. For the past 12 years her primary focus has been on issues of Family Law. Botswana has a fused bar thus allowing attorneys right of appearance in all Courts and in all matters. With the rare exception, Rita has argued all of her matters in Court herself. She has experience as an expert witness in Family Law matter, most recently at the Superior Court, Ontario, Canada. Botswana is populated by a broad spectrum of nationalities and Rita has represented clients of more than 30 different nationalities in areas such as divorce, financial settlements, adoption, child relocation, custody disputes, enforcement of foreign Orders and Deceased Estate and Testamentary disputes. Rita was certified as a Trial Advocacy Trainer by the University of Washington in 2011 and has participated in the training of scores of young attorneys from Botswana and the region. Rita is the “go to” attorney for high end divorces but is also known for her pro bono work for the poor and the voiceless.
